Jessica Olivier - Partner

Jess leads the East Coast R&D practice for RSM, providing specialist R&D Tax incentive compliance and consulting services. Jess holds membership with the Institute of Chartered Accounts in the UK and Australia, and commenced her Tax career in the UK in 2000. Jess has worked in Australia since 2005, specialising in R&D Tax for the last 14 years. She assists clients from a broad range of industries (including manufacturing, engineering and technology), to optimise their R&D tax benefits.

Prior to joining RSM, Jess was a Director at PwC where she also worked on many start-us and SMEs as well as listed companies and multinational groups. She started as a Senior R&D Consultant undertaking full preparation of the R&D claims, through to a Manager role coordinating the claim process, and as a Director where she was responsible for the strategic direction and risk profile of the R&D claims for the client, including identifying previously unconsidered projects or substantial new opportunities for inclusion within the R&D claim(s).

Earlier in her career, Jess was involved in government consultation regarding the introduction of the New Zealand R&D Tax program in 2008, as well as working with our NZ network firms on proposed templates and process implementation.

Matt McCarthy – Assistant Manager

Matt is an R&D Assistant Manager specialising in R&D Tax incentive services in the Applied and Physical Sciences. Matt is a CA member and holds a Bachelor of Medical Science majoring in Neuroscience and a Masters of Commerce majoring in Accounting and Finance.

Matt has extensive experience in the full preparation of R&D claims across the physics, chemical, engineering, software engineering and mathematical sciences. This includes the application of scientific and legislative knowledge to various emerging technologies such as Blockchain, novel chemical and construction solutions, and novel combinations of software and physical sciences such as in mass spectrometry, radio frequency and energy conversion applications.
