This LESANZ Quantum Technologies event delves into the science and real-world commercial applications of quantum technology and looks at the how and why Australia must be at the forefront of research, development, commercialisation, investment, value creation and job opportunities enabled through quantum technology.

Pharmaceuticals, medical diagnostics, telecommunications, cryptography and cybersecurity, national security and defence applications, high volume data analytics, space science, sensing and imaging, and many other technologies, will all accelerate through a new generation of advanced technologies tapping into the phenomena of quantum entanglement and quantum superposition.

Australia has a growing quantum technology industry. Multiple spin-out businesses have been created from Australian universities and are successfully competing in the emerging global industry. More spin-outs are on their way. This burgeoning Australian industry has been enabled by 20+ years of sustained public investment in quantum research in Australian universities. The industry development is being driven by a mixture of profound investments by governments seeking to capture sovereign capability and advantage, major investment by private corporations, and deep-technology venture capital funds.  As the quantum technology industry emerges and establishes its norms, there are a variety of commercialisation and intellectual property models that are being adopted.
